Future Plans...
Lord willing in 2006, we will be leaving the Sabaot people
who we will have served for a total of 16 years. We believe they are equipped
to carry on the work we have begun with the Lord’s guidance. We want to start
a 3rd phase of ministry. At that point we will have done the
primary work of church planting for 34 years. For the past 20 years Janet and
I have had a real calling to teach marriage and family enrichment to families
and churches. It started when African families came and asked if we can teach
them how to raise and nurture Christian families. We have taught many seminars
and courses in family and marriage topics. We feel a real calling for this
ministry. Lord willing, we will be visiting you in May, 2006 when we will
share more of our plans with you.
Marriages
in Africa have just as many problems and perhaps even more problems than
marriages in the United States. They struggle with the same struggles;
Communication problems, raising children, handling finances. They have no
training and no one to teach them. We believe and have seen the evidence that
when we put effort into strengthening the family the church is strengthened.
Our plan is to first go to Dar Saalam, Tanzania along with a team of
missionaries to plant a church. Dar Salaam has 1.5 million people and 6 Church
of Christ congregations with total membership around 600-700. One half of the
population of Dar Salaam is islamic. We want to start a church so that it can
be the Antioch of Acts for that area to send people from this church to plant more
churches in Africa. We want to travel to other African countries to do
marriage and family seminars, for example, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe and
throughout Africa. While the team continues to plant the church, we’ll come
back and visit and then go out again. It’s a shift in our ministry but we fell
God’s leading in this area. Please pray for us as we plan our transition to Tanzania
for our next phase of ministry. Pray that God would prepare the soil for seed
advance and much fruit would be born for the glory of God.
